A FAMILY SAGA edition by PATRICIA KEYSON Literature Fiction eBooks

Oh my God and Jesus!
I started reading this ebook this morning...I ignored most chores...and just finished it.
It was a relief to read about a wonderful family going through good and bad moments with kids, pets, relatives, exes, bosses, friends, etc.
Although the tale takes place a couple of decades or more before this time...I could imagine this family even in this time.
It broke my heart when the heroine and her husband lost Joy.
Im glad that the parents accepted their gay son. Im tired of homophobic parents, like Gary's parents, being bullies to their gay kids.
My scumbag brother turned his back on his gay son.
He, like the jerk Richard, also took advantage of kind relatives.
You gotta keep good relatives in your life, ditch the bad ones, and focus on living happy lives.
Defenitely don't sell your big house, move into a small one, just to give money to a loser relative. Ugh.
Anyways, this book is awesome. So please read it.

A FAMILY SAGA edition by PATRICIA KEYSON Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Don't quit this book by the end of chapter two, as I was tempted to do because it was very trite and the simplicity of the writing equaled the main character's extreme naivete. But the writing did improve, the characters got a little deeper, and the story developed enough that I did want to finish it. There is even a touch of mystery. This “saga” felt like some chunks were missing (for example, the story of Edward's brother was unfinished) but these characters with their weaknesses made the story quite realistic. And it was a pleasure to read an ebook with so few publishing errors.
This was a great read, even though I can't say why. Well written, provocative. Just a simple story of a women's life, which was interesting and intriguing. You really get to know and understand the characters, just a simple story line that keeps your interest throughout, and is very honest. I enjoyed it and will definitely seek this author's books as it is written exceptionally well.
A bunch of characters who are generally unlikable. Then take a good turn and just about the time you think...okay...another turn happens and you see their ugly side again!! There are enough ugly people around without me spending time reading about them.
At the beginning of the story, I thought Bea was just a foolish teenager and Sammy was most certainly taking advantage of her. But as the story progressed it became much more intriguing and all the characters were filled with depth and imagination. It was interesting and full of surprises. I definitely recommend A Family Saga, and don't let the first few chapters turn you off...it gets better and better.
I didn't enjoy this book at all. The relationship between Edward and Bea was like a revolving door. He loved her, she loved Sammy. Bea loved Edward, Edward would leave her. Time after time. Major events would occur and be over. Just. Like. That. Never to be mentioned again. Sammy and Edward and Bea's children were fully fleshed characters. I never felt I really knew Bea or Edward. I can't recommend this book to anyone. Very trite and poorly written.
I found Bea, the main character to be very simple-minded and vulnerable in a unrealistic way. The person that the author outlines as a caring, responsible young adult is plagued by major pitfalls one after the other that are fed completely by her poor choices. The setting seems much earlier than the 50s - 60s era. I don't want to give away any of the plot for interested readers. It just seemed to me that a young woman from the 50s would be more able to make better choices right from the start, which would have popped apart the plot. Even granting her one or two mistakes from which to learn, she just continues on that path -- all the while being highlighted as intelligent, hardworking, caring, with friends and coworkers available to her to help guide her. The book is very disjointed -- all these major pitfalls, but no real development to them, just wham!bang!thank you ma'am!, and onto the next pitfall.
A young innocent Bea, falls madly in love with a smooth talking and exciting somewhat older man. When he asks her to follow him to Australia she tells him she is pregnant. He. Tells her she must put the child up for adoption and then join him. She does what he asks then her letters to "Sammy" are returned unansered. Bea meets a stable, hard working pleasant man and finds that she can love again. They marry, have four children, and grow old together and their love grows, but Bea can't seem to forget Sammy and wonder how different her life might have been. The author is good at letting the story surprise the reader as the unexpected happens several times.
